I got another chunk of the wall plaster off and cleaned up. I decided that in this waiting period (waiting on permits) I’ll just take the time to salvage all I can and do everything I can without the demo permit. Which basically means, I cant do anything to the structure of the house. But I can tear out all of the inside stuff, like the hardwoods, etc… and possibly tear off the siding and roof. I doubt there is much in the way of dimensional lumber worth saving except for the roof and floor joists and the truss lumber. The interior walls would take too much work to salvage just a few 2x4’s. I’ll take the time to get what I can, but when the permit comes, the rest will have to just be torn down as quickly as possible. -kk

Yeah thanks Jonathon...a nice fire would be a good way to clear the lot for the new house. But Ken's doin' it the ole fashioned way...hard work, blood, sweat and tears.

Ken's been out sick this week so he hasn't done any work at the house. He plans on being there on Saturday to try to make up for the days he missed this week.

Ken--Keep up the good work. We left West Seattle for Gregory Heights (Burien) a couple of years ago but miss the old neghborhood terribly. If we could've remodeled for 100K, we'd have stayed. Instead, when we sold our West Seattle house, we got a ton of house in Burien (and yard) plus enough equity to buy land out at Westport on the coast. Now we are considering working with Greg LaVardera on a modular project for our beach house and putting in a bit of our own sweat to create a surfer's dream retreat there!

If you need help, I am an inexperienced laborer, but hard working and would be glad to pitch in demo-ing or lifting heavy object, etc!
